A ultra-natural swimbait specialized for dead-slow retrieves
Swimming Action
1. The SLOWEST most enticing Swimbait in IMAKATSU history
Winding with a dead slow swim bait allows for more action and increases bite chances over shorter lure travel distances. If you wanted to wind your swimbait slow, the huddle tail has been the go-to standard.
Now, IMAKATSU 's newly developed demon tail has produced a swimbait that can be wound even slower and more deadly than the world-famous huddle tail swimbait.
The demon tail swim bait exhibits a super realistic subtle tail action that when slow winding only the tail moves slightly while the body remains stationary.
The versatile tail is able to be split to create another action as illustrated below. This allows a truly unique action where the upper and lower tails will move independently. This independent, split tail action generates more complex yet subtle fish enticing vibrations with a gentle swimming action.
2. The secret to producing a natural looking bait fish
Natural action can be achieved easily enough by slow rolling many lures, however, IMAKATSU has further perfected it with the “Lazy Swimmer!“
For the ultimate natural presentation, the lure's swimming aspect must be horizontal to imitate swimming fish. The Lazy Swimmer can maintain a horizontal aspect when used as a floating lure or even when adjusted to suspend*.
If you pause this swimbait during its retrieval in its horizontal aspect, bass will find it irresistible.
* Buoyancy is built into the inner body which makes it possible to keep a completely horizontal aspect - just like a bait fish. Anglers are able to minutely adjust the swim bait to perfect the suspending action and aspect by using a 0.6 to 1.1 g nail weights.
3. Darting action is possible - even with a huddle tail
Although the fish catching power of huddle tail type swim baits is widely recognized, it is difficult to make them dart due to the rigidity of the lure and difficult to time the strike when aggressive bass attack. The Lazy Swimmer is a swimbait that allows the anglers to impart darting action while maintaining the ability to catch fish. There is no doubt that if you impart darting action on the Lazy Swimmer in front an aggressive bass, they will find it irresistible!
4. Using the Stealth Swimmer and Lazy swimmer to perfection
If you want to know the lay of an unfamiliar lake or pond, you need the stealth swimmer which can run through surface to middle depths without having to worry about the weed or structure close to the bottom. Anglers can swim the Lazy Swimmer very slowly to perfectly imitate a live baitfish while holding mid to surface depths.
The Lazy Swimmer with its enticing slow retrieve will be deadly during periods of low bass activity. This swimbait will be the difference when fish are not in an aggressive mood.
-For those who are looking for a smaller lure than a lazy swimmer-
If you are looking for a size smaller than Lazy Swimmer, we recommend Huddle Swimmer Elastomer. By the way, the reason why the 6-inch huddle swimmer elastomer is not released is that “the elastomer material has too high buoyancy and will fall sideways.”
The lazy swimmer was born out of the necessity for a larger swimbait that had the same enticing slow retrieve action as the smaller Huddle Swimmer Elastomer. Larger versions of the Huddle Swimmer Elastomer were too buoyant and rolled on their sides during retrieval – so IMAKATSU developed the Lazy Swimmer!
5. Mastering the 9-Inch Big Size - Hooking the Catch in Just Two Casts
As of 2024, the Lazy Swimmer is available in both the original 6-inch size and a larger 9-inch version.
The 9-inch size of the Lazy Swimmer, a floating swimbait that powerfully moves water with its tail while swimming dead-slow, is quite rare. This makes it an effective tool for bass that are relatively quick to bite something they haven't seen before. According to Mr. Imae, the 9-inch Lazy Swimmer is especially effective during the early pre-spawn period in March, the post-spawn recovery phase in June and July, and just before winter following the turnover in November. However, when using it, limit yourself to two casts at one spot. It's rare for a bass to bite on the third cast, and if it does, it's likely there's an unseen nest.
You might hesitate due to its size, but even a 3-pounder can bite it without any problem, so we highly recommend experiencing the unique appeal that only this big size can offer. (Tips) Just like the original size, it can be modified to suspend by using a nail weight or similar. The body is designed with a large space to easily insert nail weights or other weights.
