1. The Megabass X-80 Jr is a small suspending jerkbait downsized
The Megabass X-80 Jr is a small suspending jerkbait downsized from, but with the same functions as, the iconic X-80 Trick Darter. While it bears the name of X-80, it’s only 65mm (2½”) long. It’s a downsized version that inherits all the aesthetics of the X-80. The realistic appearance (called ‘shiner form’) is the same, as is the higher side profile, thus mimicking Japanese baitfish.
The X-80 Jr. also has the same performance as the larger X-80 Trick Darter. It stops quickly when the retrieve is halted, and allows for sharp motions and ‘dancing’ with simple rod tip twitches that are inviting to big Bass. It’s easy to incorporate wobbling and rolling, even with a simple retrieve. Armed with the same Tungsten weight system as its big brothers, the X-80 Jr. houses 1/4 ounce of weight even though it’s only 65mm long. It has the flight distance that the X series is famous for, and casts farther than other jerkbaits the same size.
So if matching the bait is the object, and a particular lake offers smaller baitfish, switching to the Megabass X-80 Jr. is an excellent choice. Even though it's small, this little dynamo has a high appeal. When the bass are scattered or skittish, the ability to cast long, twitch and jerk with insane action, and incite lethargic Bass to strike makes the the X-80 Jr. a powerful search and destroy tool in your tacklebox.
