The DB Yuma Free is a lizard-style soft-plastic bait developed with free-rig fishing in mind.
The free-rig is a setup where the weight falls and reaches the bottom before the soft-plastic, allowing the soft-plastic to fall naturally like a weightless-rig while being tension-free. However, when observed using Forward-Facing Sonar (FFS) such as Livescope, it's often seen that the weight and soft-plastic don't separate by more than 12inchs during descent, which can be disappointing for anglers expecting a greater difference between imagination and reality.

To maximize the advantages of the free-rig, anglers often choose flat-bodied soft-plastics that mimic bluegill etc. to increase water resistance and maximize the distance between the weight and the soft-plastic. However, these baits may not be as attractive to bass that aren't actively feeding on bluegill etc., and the simple design of flat soft-plastics can lack vibration during the fall.

To address this, Jackall developed the DB Yuma Free to combine a "long free-fall time" with "strong vibration during the fall." The DB Yuma Free features specially shaped arms on both sides of the body that create a rolling action during the fall while also acting as a brake in the water. This design allows for maximum separation between the weight and the soft-plastic, extending the free-fall time and enabling a longer period of appeal to bass.

6. Improve your catch rate by using in combination with other soft-plastics

While the DB Yuma Free is an excellent lizard-style soft-plastic for free-rig fishing, when bass are clearly feeding on flat-bodied baitfish like bluegill, we recommend using the Honey Nugget, another free-rig specific soft-plastic from Jackall. For targeting bass feeding on larger baitfish, we recommend the Imakatsu Javallon, which mimics baitfish fleeing to deeper water when used with a free-rig.
