Farther casting distance, Weaker action, and Deeper diving range than the original
Swimming Action
1. A modern variation of the classic OneTen that delivers Exquisite tight action that invites bass that pursue a slow retrieve.
The OneTenR features a tighter, more natural action than the original ONETEN. The original ONETEN has an intense action and high appeal, so it’s tough to use when the bite is finicky. So Megabass’s super team of Yuki Ito and Shinji Sato set forth to create an exquisite, weak, but ultra-realistic retrieve that shakes tight and tempts Bass. The OneTenR delivers exactly that with a high-pitched, tight action with just the right amount of weakness, while maintaining the jerk performance the Vision OneTen series is famous for.
The jerk action anglers expect from OneTen is unchanged, with insane darting and flicking performance. By adding a body roll to ONETEN, which was intended for jerk performance, the situations where it can be used has expanded.
2. OneTenR can be thrown farther with 1 weight structure
While the original ONETEN was equipped with two fixed weights, the OneTenR has only one, concentrating the center of gravity on a single point and improving long cast performance. The tail is designed to be thick so that the weight can be placed as far back as possible when thrown. It can easily be thrown in strong winds like those on Lake Biwa. The OneTenR has been proven to fly farther than the original ONETEN, and rivals even the OneTen LBO series.
Upon landing, the weight immediately settles the OneTenR’s posture, even with an immediate retrieve. The fixed weight allows for a more stable action than with multiple weights. Mr. Ito says that, when using the OneTenR, it is good to approach the big lakes with a steady and rhythmic action. Good advice to put into practice.
3. OneTenR can be used in any lake, by using it properly depending on the depth
The OneTenR series of four lures for different depths, ensuring you have the perfect lure for whatever depth you fish. The ONETEN R has a max depth of 1.7m (5½’), the ONETEN R+1 has a max depth of 2m (6½’), the ONETEN R+2 has a max depth of 2.5m (8’), and the ONETEN R+3 has a maximum depth of 4m (13’). No matter the depth, the OneTenR keeps its jerk properties, and remains responsive, even when fished deep.
The version of note is the OneTenR+3, which finally reached the 4m range. Almost unthinkable for a slow-float jerkbait, the +3 keeps its darting and flicking action even in very deep water. In addition to the dart that rolls left and right, it also kicks back when using a short twitch. Even if the Bass are hidden in a deep layer where light is scarce, such as a reservoir, you can still entice Bass by diving the +3 down, darting and flashing right in front of them.
In a big lake, like Lake Biwa, the height of the weeds varies depending on the location, so if you use OneTenR properly, you can swim at a depth that perfectly matches the tops of the weeds. For example, with spring bass it’s important to change the diving range according to the phase of the spawn, so the OneTenR’s versatility should be useful.
4. ONETEN and ONETEN LBO and OneTenR How to choose?
The Vision ONETEN lineup has so many choices, sometimes it's hard to decide which one to use. Considering all of its features mentioned above, the situations in which OneTenR should be selected are as follows:
- 1) When you want to add a weak and natural action
- 2) When you want to aim deeper
- 3) When you want to cast far
1) When you want to add a weak and natural action
Lure action requires delicacy in tough areas and clear lakes. In such a case, OneTenR’s realistic appearance and natural action come into play. The original ONETEN's tricky and stubborn movements may cause Bass to shy away or bite light. When retrieved, the OneTenR has a high-pitch roll that is tighter than the original ONETEN, creating a more realistic action. And, unlike the original ONETEN, there is only a single fixed weight, so the movement when jerking is simple and stable.
2) When you want to aim deeper
The OneTenR has a diving depth of 1.7m, which is 20cm deeper than the original ONETEN's 1.5m. If the original ONETEN is not quite reaching the depth where the bass are biting, using the OneTenR series to fine tune your depth requirements may be the answer. When you want to efficiently search a wide area of a big lake such as Lake Biwa, just pitch and retrieve with the OneTenR. When you think of a jerk bait, you generally think of shallow water, but the OneTenR series comes in R+1, R+2, and R+3 types that can dive up to 4m.
3) When you want to cast far
The OneTenR has superior casting performance compared to the original ONETEN. Whether it’s strong winds, the need to cover large areas of water (like Lake Biwa), or you’re bank fishing in a small pond and want distance, the long throw performance of the OneTerR rivals even the vaunted LBO, according to the MEGABASS sales person in charge of our company,
