A 180-Degree Turn to Trigger Strikes: The Bluegill-Type glide bait

1. Triggering Strikes with a 180-Degree Turn for Bass That Wouldn't Bite with Just Retrieving

The Bluegill-Type glide bait generates a strong water push from its high-bodied design with just retrieval, attracting bass and allowing you to catch them with its realistic appearance. However, this story is from a time when Bluegill-Type glide baits were still rare in the market. Nowadays, bass that have seen plenty of similar lures tend to approach the lure but often end with just a chase, without striking. That's why Jackall developed Gantarel and the downsized model Chibitarel, lures capable of triggering bites from bass that have discovered the lure.

Unlike traditional Bluegill-Type glide baits, Gantarel and Chibitarel can make turns of more than 180 degrees when twitched during retrieval. With this "180-degree turn" that seems to intimidate the opponent, you can be sure to get those bass that used to end with just a chase to finally bite.

2. Complete Range Coverage with Two Eyes

Gantarel and Chibitarel are equipped with two eyes. When using the upper eye, they dive to a depth of approximately 1 meter (about 3ft), and when using the lower eye, they swim near the surface. Regardless of which eye you use, they are capable of executing a 180-degree turn.

If you want to target depths deeper than 1m (about 3ft), you can attach VARIVAS' Quick Changer series to the lower eye. Depending on the water temperature, adding weights of around 1gram will make them suspend, and with weights of 5grams or more, they can swim in depths of up to 2m (about 6 feet) or deeper. Since suspend-type Bluegill-Type glide baits are relatively rare in the market, they might make a strong first impression on bass.

3. Opt for Chibitarel Deadrise When Bass Aren't Chasing

For bass that are cautious of Bluegill-type glide baits, Chibitarel Deadrise, with its different action despite a similar appearance, might be effective. While it looks similar to Chibitarel, when retrieved slowly, it swims with its body tilted sideways, mimicking a weakened Bluegill, and when stopped, it rises while keeping its body sideways. This movement appears completely opposite to the aggressive 180-degree turns and intimidation of Gantarel and Chibitarel, which swim energetically, making it intriguing to bass.
