A Sinking Bug Bait Produced by Fujita Kyoya That Entices Horizontally and Vertically
Swimming Action
1. Bringing Bass in with Moving Legs During the Fall, Then Triggering Strikes with Jerks
Since around 2020, sinking insect-type soft plastics have become a trend across Japan. Their high density allows for long casts, and they are favored for their ability to produce spontaneous action during the fall. However, most of these sinking insect-type soft plastics excel in enticing strikes during the fall but lacked effective lateral movement.
In response, Jackall collaborated with B.A.S.S. ELITE angler Kyoya Fujita to develop the RV-BUG, a soft plastic lure that can be used both vertically and horizontally.
Like other insect-type soft plastics, the RV-BUG's five legs move spontaneously even when rigged weightless during the fall. In addition to this, when pulled horizontally, its paddle-tail arms vigorously stir the water, providing a strong appeal to bass. Techniques like "triggering strikes with one jerk on bass that approached during the fall but didn't commit" become possible with the RV-BUG.
2. The 3-Inch Version Stirs the Water with Even More Power
As of 2024, the RV-BUG is available in 1.5 inches and 3 inches versions. The 3 inches version has increased in volume more than just length, making them suitable for bait tackle as well.
Furthermore, the paddle-tail arms have been enlarged, making them particularly well-suited for use with leaderless drop shots or Free-rig setups. According to pro angler Kyoya Fujita, using an offset hook #1/0 with weights of around 5 grams(3/16oz) will provide the best action for the arms.
