True to its name, "Gekiasa" (meaning 'very shallow' in Japanese), the Gekiasashad is an ideal lure for your frequent fishing spots, particularly if they are tough fields with many shallow areas around 1m (3.2 ft) deep. In such challenging fields, a compact crankbait with subtle movement can be an effective choice, as bass find it harder to dismiss. However, most compact crankbaits on the market dive deeper than 80 cm (2.6 ft), causing them to swim while knocking the bottom in shallow areas. Normally, bottom knocking is an effective bite trigger, but bass in high-pressure shallows, which have seen bottom-knocking lures repeatedly, tend to associate bottom knocking with lures.

Additionally, bass living in shallows tend to corner baitfish against the water surface to prevent them from escaping into rocks or crevices, and when hunting for prey, they often look upwards. (It goes without saying that bass skilled in such hunting tend to be larger.)

Considering these factors, in ultra-shallow, tough conditions, lures that dive deeper than 80 cm (2.6 ft) are not the best choice. Therefore, Imakatsu has developed the Gekiasashad, which dives deeper than a wake crank but shallower than a compact crankbait, swimming at a depth of 50 cm (1.6 ft).

This shad, designed to swim in shallow waters, is a collaboration between Megabass's President Ito and Mr. Imakatsu. Similar in size to the Gekiasashad at under 60mm, it differs in the intended use scenarios considered during development, resulting in distinct actions and dive depths.

Gekiasashad is designed for scenarios where you need to quickly search mid-depth areas, such as along shorelines. On the other hand, IXI SHAD TYPE-R is intended for use in scenes where there is a certain level of confidence that bass are present at a specific point. It's ideal for situations where bass may be clinging to the bottom near rocks during periods of low water temperatures, and you want to entice them without making direct contact with the bottom. In such scenarios, the IXI SHAD TYPE-R is the preferred choice.

To suit the usage scenarios mentioned above, the IXI SHAD TYPE-R is designed with an even more subtle rolling action compared to the Gekiasashad.

To match the mentioned scenarios, while the Gekiasashad dives to a depth of only 50cm(1.6ft), the IXI SHAD TYPE-R reaches approximately 80cm (2.6ft) (up to 1.0m in some cases).

Similar to the above, a lure developed through collaboration between Megabass's President Ito and Mr. Imae. It shares one of the key features of Gekiasashad, which is to swim in the shallow range just above 50cm(1.6ft), but the size is slightly larger than Gekiasashad, and its movement is more jerkbait-like.
