By changing the lip angle, the range you can target changes. You can now instantly switch between "Wake Mode" on the surface and "Diving Mode" underwater. Furthermore, in each mode, you can appeal in two different ways through retrieving and rod technique. In other words, you can approach in four different ways with a single lure.

Wake Mode

In "Wake Mode" with the lip raised, it creates a strong following wave, splash sound, attack sound from the jointed body, and intense rolling and flashing to powerfully attract bass near the surface. It displays sufficient appeal even with a slow retrieve, and is also good at targeting a single point with a flat-fall and dog-walking action while restraining movement distance when twitched.

Diving Mode

On the other hand, in "Diving Mode" with the lip lowered, it dives to depths of over 3ft. It can target fish that don't come to the surface, or bass hidden in structure or vegetation. Fast retrieve or rolling darts by twitching can also be effective for appealing to less active bass.
