3. Recommended Jig Head Sizes and Weights

When using the Flash J, selecting the appropriate hook size is crucial.
- For the 2-inch model: #10 to #14
- For the 3-inch model: #4 to #6
- For the 4-inch model: #1 to #3
If you prefer a more natural action, use a smaller size, and if you want to increase your hooking ratio, opt for a larger size.
Especially when using the 3-inch model for mid-strolling, a #3 size hook is effective as it helps create a rolling action. Lightly hooking the bait will further enhance the rolling action. Use a 1/16 oz (1.8 g) weight as a base, increasing the weight for deeper targets and decreasing it for shallower areas.

4. Hover-strolling Technique for Finesse Situations

In some situations, an even slower and more finesse approach than mid-strolling may be necessary. In such cases, it is recommended to use the Flash J with a hover-strolling technique. By slowly suspending the bait in the mid-water layer or near the bottom, you can present it to the bass for an extended period, increasing your chances of getting a bite. Use this delicate approach to entice less active bass to strike.
Recommended setups:
- 3-inch model with a #1 to #3 light wire hook
- 2-inch model with a #4 to #6 light wire hook
- Choose a 1/32 oz to 1/16 oz nail weight
Using an overly heavy nail weight can hinder the bait's delicate action, so select a lighter weight depending on the conditions. By focusing on a subtle presentation, the Flash J's hover-strolling technique will persuade even inactive bass to bite.
