Huddle Tail Swimbait Mimicking a Dying Panfish
Swimming Action
1. Swimbait Mimicking a Dying Panfish
Lures and soft plastics modeled after panfish such as bluegill are larger in volume, making them an optimal choice for targeting large bass. While many panfish-inspired swimbaits on the market are designed to mimic lively swimming, Imakatsu's Huddle Gill is a soft swimbait specially crafted to replicate the behavior of a weakened panfish, exhibiting exceptional effectiveness especially when used with a free-rig setup.
2. Feeding with a Free-rig From Vertical to Spiral Fall for Dramatic Action
The Free-rig is the best setup for maximizing the characteristics of the Huddle Gill. The Free-rig allows the weight to fall and reach the bottom before the soft plastic, which then becomes tension-free and falls naturally like an unweighted Texas rig. However, when observed through Live Scope, it's apparent that in reality, the weight and soft plastic often don't separate by more than 30cm (12 inches) as they fall, which might disappoint anglers expecting a significant difference between their expectation and the actual behavior.
To address this issue, Imakatsu equipped the Huddle Gill with a huddle tail that offers significant water resistance and incorporated as deep ribs as possible into the body.
As a result, the Huddle Gill's water resistance significantly increases, causing the weight and soft plastic to separate at a much earlier stage during the fall, achieving a prolonged tension-free fall. Furthermore, the Huddle Gill performs a spiral fall when tension-free, prompting bass to bite due to the abrupt change in action.
3. With a Neko Rig, You Can Mimic a Dying Panfish on the Bottom
The Neko Rig, especially effective from pre-spawn to post-spawn periods, excels at mimicking a weakened bluegill on the bottom.
For a 5.8" size, weights ranging from 0.9g to 1.8g(1/32oz to 1/16oz) paired with a #4/0 offset hook offer an exceptional match.
