Kenta Kimura, the B.A.S.S. ELITE pro who introduced the jig-strolling technique to Japan, said he never found a trailer he could truly trust. That need led him to collaborate with Megabass to create the SLAP HOG.

Jig-strolling combines a rubber jig or dedicated jig head with a soft-plastic, then swims it through the mid- to lower-water column. Unlike traditional pitching that ends once the bait hits cover, jig-strolling treats the fall, the swim, and the retrieve as one continuous sequence. A true trailer must perform in both vertical fall and horizontal swimming without losing balance.

2. Why the SLAP HOG matches jig-strolling perfectly

Because its body minimizes drag, the SLAP HOG maintains a natural, horizontal posture throughout the retrieve.

During jig-strolling, the bait subtly rises and falls as the angler imparts small twitches and manages line slack. Too much water resistance causes ordinary creature baits to lift or tilt upward too much, breaking the illusion and killing bites.

The SLAP HOG’s large arms are purposely shaped and angled to avoid catching excess water. Each element is tuned to preserve horizontal balance while keeping the rear of the body from floating up. As a result, it tracks precisely through the intended depth range, making it an ideal match for controlled, mid-depth swimming.
