A 1.8" floating insect-style bait that can splash and walk-the-dog
1. A 1.8" bait that can splash and walk—so it actually calls fish in
The bibibi-Chu is an insect-style topwater bait designed by Haruhiko Murakami, the originator of the Neko-Rig and a pioneer of modern finesse fishing.
Its standout feature is that despite its compact 1.8-inch size, it can create splashes and even walk-the-dog action with minimal rod input.

While most insect-style baits are designed to simply float and sit still, the bibibi Chu can actively draw fish in. This makes it highly effective for targeting tight spots like overhangs, shaded pockets, and precise targets where you need to both trigger and convert bites.
2. Subtle micro-action that gets bites even when left alone
Even at rest, the bibibi-Chu continuously produces lifelike movement. Its six short legs and two antennae move independently with the slightest water movement, creating subtle vibrations that mimic struggling aquatic insects or small crustaceans.
This allows the bait to generate bites without aggressive action—just let it sit and work on its own.

In addition, Murakami’s signature 3D rib design—based on his philosophy that “natural light is never uniform”—agitates the water while creating complex light refraction.
This combination of subtle movement and natural visual presence makes the bait extremely hard for bass to reject, often triggering bites even during long pauses.
3. Hollow body design for high buoyancy and solid hook-up ratio

The hollow body construction provides excellent buoyancy, allowing the bait to maintain a stable and natural posture on the surface.
At the same time, the body compresses easily on the bite, helping expose the hook point and improving hook-up ratios.

If water enters the body and reduces buoyancy, you can restore flotation by inserting the included buoyancy material (approx. 13mm).
4. Recommended hooks and rigging

The standard setup is a #8 dropshot hook, which maximizes natural action and hook-up performance.

Around cover, you can switch to an offset hook for better weedless performance. Trimming the short head section also makes it easier to create splashes on demand.
The bait is also designed to pair perfectly with the Owner Multi Offset Hook designed by H.Murakami in sizes #4, #3, and #2.
5. Pair it with the “Shizumi Mushi” to cover both ends of the water column
In bass fishing, both the surface and the bottom act as “dead ends” where bait has nowhere left to escape—making them prime feeding zones.
When fish are keyed on the bottom, use the sinking Issei’s Shizumi Mushi to target that lower boundary.
When fish are looking up, the bibibi-Chu excels at exploiting the surface.
By switching between the two depending on fish position, you can convert bites that would otherwise go untriggered.
