An Alabama rig suitable for spinning tackle
Swimming Action
1. A Lure that Merges the Best of the Alabama Rig and the Mid-strolling
The "Bama-strolling" technique, popularized in Japan around 2022, combines the best aspects of the Alabama rig and the mid-strolling. Inspired by this trend, Jackall's pro staff Takuma Hata developed "PEACETON." The Bama-strolling transforms the simple reeling of the Alabama rig into a mid-strolling-like rolling motion through mid-water, providing both the “drawing power of the Alabama rig” and the "enticing ability of the mid-strolling." However, the Alabama rig requires heavy bait tackle due to its multiple jig heads and blades. PEACETON was born from the idea of preserving the benefits of Bama-strolling while making it manageable with spinning tackle.
2. Free-Sliding Wire Creates the Illusion of an Isolated, Easy-to-Catch Small Fish
The defining feature of PEACETON is its free-sliding wire, which allows the lures attached to the sliding wire and the fixed wire to move differently. The two lures on the sliding wire have subtle movements, while the lure on the fixed wire has a more pronounced action. This variation creates the illusion of a small fish separated from its group. A potential concern might be the effectiveness of hooking the bass, given that there is only one hook but three lures. According to developer Takuma Hata, bass tend to strike at the more prominently moving bait in a group, and the lure attached to the fixed wire, where the hook is, has a larger movement, ensuring reliable hooking.
3. Choose the Size and Jig Head Weight According to the Baitfish Size and Targeted Range
Size | 80 | 100 |
---|---|---|
Fish schools | Small | Big |
Jig head weight | 0.9 | 1.8 |
---|---|---|
Renge | Surface | All |
Size of baitfish | Small | Big |
PEACETON comes in two sizes, 80 and 100, and two jig head weights, 0.9g and 1.8g, allowing for effective selection based on the fishing conditions. Choose the size according to the size of the baitfish schools; the 100 size has a larger action range, better for imitating larger fish schools. As for the jig head, select based on the baitfish size and range. For smaller baitfish usually found near the surface, the 0.9g jig head is recommended. For larger baitfish, which may be scattered across different depths, the versatile 1.8g is the better choice.
4. Two Different Soft plastics for Varied Appeal
PEACETON includes two types of soft plastics: the PEACETON Shad and the PEACETON Fry. Use the Shad for a stronger appeal and the Fry for a subtler presentation. You can also mix and match, using the Shad on the sliding part for overall attraction and the Fry on the jig head for a more delicate bite.
The soft plastics are easy to set up, simply sliding onto the wire, and a soft plastic keeper helps prevent them from slipping off. Replacement soft plastics are also available for purchase.

5. Customize the Jig Head and Soft plastic for Better Results
The jig head attachment is a snap, making it easy to switch out for your preferred jig head or soft plastic. A recommended combination is the Jackall Drift Fry for its sparkling, flickering action that attracts fish. For a 4-inch size, try switching to the Gamakatsu Horizon Head. Experiment with different setups, such as floating worms for a Hover-Strolling-like presentation or attaching a vibration bait or plug for varied actions. You can freely explore different ways of using it, such as attaching floating soft-plastics like Imakatsu's Huddle Swimmer Elastomer to create a hover-style presentation similar to Hover-Strolling, or trying out lipless-crankbait and plugs like Jackall's Jubble, etc. The possibilities are endless.
